I gave up my Facebook account two weeks ago. I just couldn’t do it any more. It’s hard to believe that anyone outside of college can still be liberal. Watching what’s going on in our country it makes me so upset that anyone can still defend Washington. And yet they do, over and over again. The biggest issue that I got tired of defending was govt regulations. No one seems to think it is going to affect them. It’s for “those people.” Unless you are independently wealthy, or part of the elitists in DC, you are “those people.” They need regulation on transfats and happy meals because they can’t make good choices. They need regulation on health insurance because they can’t afford or choose for themselves. They need regulation on the radio because it’s not fair. Wake up America! You are “those people.” When regulations come down from the up aboves, it’s not just for those that can’t chose the right kinds of foods for their families, it regulates all of us. It’s time to come back to some personal responsibility. You do remember what that is right?

Life Gets in The Way

Sometimes life gets in the way of what you need to do. As a conservative, I find that I get so busy taking care of my family, teaching my children, and going to church that I forget about what is going on around me. Trying to get back at it tomorrow.

Max Baucus- D Senator- MT

Well, since Mr. Baucus helped write the Senate version of the heath care bill, (which is impossible to read BTW) I thought I would see what else he’s been up to. 44 items under his name. 26 of these are bills or resolutions, the last 18 are amendments. It’s hard for me to comprehend what these guys have been up to just this year.
S.651-Compensation Fairness Act of 2009
This is the bill that many people have been screaming for. Tax the excessive bonuses that executives are getting if their company got bailout money. The feds are going to tax the company 35% and then the individual 35%. Fine you say. However, who made the feds able to nullify a contract between an employee and employer? How do you decide what is “excessive?” Who decides that number? $50K isn’t, but $150k is? What about $149K? If you give your bonus back, you won’t be taxed. Didn’t King George punish the people with taxes? It seems that that tax code is being used as a weapon, not a tool to help the country.
S.450-Title: A bill to understand and comprehensively address the oral health problems associated with methamphetamine use. Seriously? If someone uses meth, their teeth are ruined. I don’t need a study spending millions of dollars to tell me that. Why the hell is our govt studying it anyway? Where is oral health research in the constitution? $50K per grant to do research on how educating the youth on “meth mouth” might help curb the meth problem. How about supporting families more? How about bringing God back into schools? How about addressing the reasons kids do drugs, not the drug problem? How about letting parents do their jobs?

S. 609-To amend the National and Community Service Act of 1990 to establish a Nonprofit Capacity Building Program.
This bill just establishes yet another committee to dole out funds that don’t belong to them for grants for “service.” This government is so far over it’s constitutional boundaries, it’s not even funny. `

Barbara Boxer- D Senator CA

Barbara Boxer is the arrogant woman who had a general refer to her as “senator,” because she had earned the title. I’m sorry your highness, I didn’t realize that senator was synonymous with royalty. Well, let’s see what this woman is up to. 42 bills, and 25 amendments. How the hell can you read any other bills when you are busy writing 67 different items. Let’s see what some of them are.
S.RES.145 – A resolution designating the week of May 17 through May 23, 2009, as “National Public Works Week”.

S.RES.188-Title: A resolution congratulating the Los Angeles Lakers for winning the 2009 National Basketball Championship.

S.RES.292-Title: A resolution congratulating the Park View All-Star Little League team for winning the 2009 Little League World Series championship.

S. 206- To amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to establish a program to help States expand the education system to include at least 1 year of early education preceding the year a child enters kindergarten. This program forces states to implement pre-K for all students one year prior to K. They can apply for a grant of no less than $300 million. Just what our kids need, the state and feds to school them from cradle to grave. Their doing such a bang up job right now, that more school would be a great idea. Where exactly will this money come from? Is Ms. Boxer going to pull it out of one of her orifices?

S. 207-To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow a deduction for health insurance premiums. This one seems like a good idea, but the bill is written in tax ease. From what I gather from it, you can’t deduct more than $2K for individual, and $4K for families. We pay around $5400 a year for the whole family for catastrophic only. It would help, but not a lot. The rules also change if you make more than $75K for ind, and $150K for family. Yet another attack on those who produce.

S. 209-To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to modify and extend the credit for alternative motor vehicles, and for other purposes. They want to extend the tax credit for buying a “green” car. They have yet to make one big enough for my family. The cost of these “green” cars is still way out there. However, this tax credit won’t go to people who make $100K ind, $200K family. Who else can afford these damn things? Again, attack the wealthy. The same rules don’t apply to everyone. What ever happened to equal protection under the law?

S. 212-To expand the boundaries of the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary and the Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary, and for other purposes. Once again, the feds are trying to take more land in the name of the “environment.” When does it end? When did the senate forget what their jobs are? It was when WE THE PEOPLE stopped paying attention.  I can’t read any more of what this woman is up to. My head will explode.

STAND UP AND BE HEARD!! THIS TYRANNY NEEDS TO END!!

Bob Corker- R Senator TN

Well, it seems that the senators are up to amendments to other bills right now. Bob has written 16 amendments to various house bills. Many of these can’t be read. They state, “Purpose will be available when the amendment is proposed for consideration.” I’m not sure the reasoning behind that. Here’s what Bob is up to.
S.1253- A bill to address reimbursement of certain costs to automobile dealers. Why is the federal govt reimbursing automobile dealers? Why is our govt in the automobile industry at all? Can we say unconstitutional?
S. 1280-To authorize the Secretary of the Treasury to delegate management authority over troubled assets purchased under the Troubled Asset Relief Program, to require the establishment of a trust to manage assets of certain designated TARP recipients, and for other purposes.

I think I might actually be able to be on board with this one if I understand it correctly. He is proposing that TARP be handled by a trust that is appointed by the president. I can agree with the trust, but not appointed by the president. He appointed tax cheat Tim to manage it in the first place. Had this not been passed in the first place, our senator wouldn’t have to worry about writing bills to manage money that the feds shouldn’t be managing.
S.1540 -A bill to provide for enhanced authority of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to act as receiver for certain affiliates of depository institutions, and for other purposes. If I understand this correctly, it gives more power to the FDIC. I’m not sure of why or how. It seems that they don’t need any more power over any one. Why can’t these guys in DC actually do their jobs. Worry about our borders, Interstates, and the Post Office.

Bart Gordon

We are in Mr. Gordon’s district now, so I thought I would see what he’s up to. Let’s start with a really important bill.
H.RES.224 -Supports the designation of a `Pi Day’ and its celebration around the world; That sure is an important thing for congress to be worrying about when people are out of work.
H.R.554-National Nanotechnology Initiative Amendments Act of 2009
This is another national committee that is handling $500k a year of our money to research nanotechnology. I’m all for nano research, but not by the feds. Where in the Constitution is that their job? This will cost $500k a year starting in 2010. Waste of money.
H.R.1693 – To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for the coverage of marriage and family therapist services and mental health counselor services under part B of the Medicare Program, and for other purposes. Now they want medicare, which is already unconstitutional, to pay for counseling too. How much will this cost?
H. R. 1709-To establish a committee under the National Science and Technology Council with the responsibility to coordinate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education activities and programs of all Federal agencies, and for other purposes. Another committee for education. Really? How many of these do we need? Don’t we have a dept of education? Don’t we have local school districts? When did all of this become the job of the feds? Mr. Gordon has 24 bills he has written. Many of the descriptions don’t make any sense, and I have a master’s degree.
H.R.3479-To eliminate duplicative Government programs, and for other purposes. This is priceless. I can’t contain my laughter on this one. Really? Unless the secretary deems it necessary, then they will combine the departments. It also discusses reducing the debt. How about STOP SPENDING OUR MONEY!!! Just a thought. We need to watch these thieves like a hawk. On one hand they want half a mil to fund nanotechnology, and on the other, they want to reduce the debt.

I’m Back

Well, I’m back at it. Not tonight, but coming soon. I need to make this a priority. I’m constantly talking about doing something, and now I need to do it. I’m back starting tomorrow night. I have sick kids tonight, or I would have been back tonight. My son just woke with fever dreams. Tomorrow I take on the govt once again.

HI- Neil Abercrombie

Obama’s home state of Hawaii voted in Mr. Abercrombie. Let’s see if you can guess blue or red by the list of his resolutions in the House right now. So far, this one is my all time favorite.
H.RES.68 : Supports the establishment of an NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision Championship playoff system in the interest of fairness and to bring parity to all NCAA teams.
Wow. Really? I’d really like to have him try to point this one out to me in the constitution.
H.R.562 : To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to restore the deduction for the travel expenses of a taxpayer’s spouse who accompanies the taxpayer on business travel. This is “fair” why? Oh yah, if a spouse can deduct travel too, they might come to Hawaii. How about a flat tax and just get rid of all deductions.
H.R.2029 : To authorize the Marine Mammal Commission to establish a national research program to fund basic and applied research on marine mammals, and for other purposes.
This one is really important this year. We are approaching double digit unemployment, but God forbid we forget about the marine life. If you are sensing a bit a sarcasm, you’d be right.
Three of his 15 resolutions are just recognizing some sort of historic site in Hawaii. Can’t the chamber of commerce do that in form of a commercial or internet ad? Our tax dollars hard at work. At least this guy only had 15 bills and not 53! The more I look into these crooks in DC the more bitter I become.

Sunday

On Sundays, I don’t do politics. I try not to listen to the news, or read from Drudge. I need one day to refresh. I go to church, and right now am packing to move. As a rule, I try to take Sunday off from political involvement.

H.CON.RES.8 : Expressing the sense of Congress that a commemorative postage stamp should be issued honoring Barbara Charline Jordan.
Jordan was the first Black Senator.
H.CON.RES.9 : Expressing the sense of Congress that a commemorative postage stamp should be issued in honor of George Thomas “Mickey” Leland.
A black congressman who fought poverty.
H.CON.RES.10 : Supporting the observance of World Stroke Awareness Day, and for other purposes.
Really?
H.CON.RES.11 : Recognizing the disproportionate impact of the global food crisis on children in the developing world.
Isn’t your job here in the United States?
H.CON.RES.138 : Recognizing the 40th anniversary of the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas.
No one else really cares about this. Why not celebrate in your state?
H.RES.32 : Recognizing the historic steps India and Pakistan have taken toward achieving bilateral peace.
Let them pat themselves on the back. Don’t waste our time.

Ms. Lee has been busy this year. She has written 53 resolutions. No wonder none of them have time to read any of the bills put forth. They are all too busy writing bills themselves trying to become a household name. Where in the constitution does it say that you need to spend time worrying about who is on a postage stamp, and national recognition days. If we could just go back to reading our constitution before writing or passing a bill, our time and tax dollars might not be wasted on this absolute CRAP!!!!
